- W2008562771 abstract "Cumene cracking on NaHY zeolites with different degrees of cation exchange and on highly exchanged ZSM—5 type zeolites was investigated. In all cases the predominant reaction was cracking of cumene to benzene and propylene. The course of the side reactions was dependant on the type of zeolite, and for NaHY zeolites, on the degree of cation exchange and the state of deactivation of the catalyst. On NaHY zeolites saturated hydrocarbons, butanes, pentanes and hexanes appear as the products of secondary transformations of propylene occurring via formation and disproportionation of the oligomer. The other products of secondary reactions are toluene, ethylbenzene and n-propylbenzene. The amount of side products increases with the increasing acidity of zeolite thus indicating that side reactions need more strongly acid groups than the dealkylation of benzene. In the case of ZSM—5 type zeolite primary propylene turns partially into other olefins; butenes and pentenes. The differences in the behaviour of NaHY and ZSM—5 type zeolites are discussed and interpreted as the result of shape selectivity." @default.
