This surface liberated N2 when heated to 975 K, after which the reconstruction appeared to have been completed. At this stage a well developed c(11 × 5) LEED pattern was observed and a surface oxide, W3O2, is proposed for this reconstructed surface. The above mentioned surface reconstructs again after further heat treatment and is characterized by a weak p(2 × 2) LEED pattern. Work function measurements and the thermal stability of this surface structure indicate that the latter is not the same as that produced by oxygen adsorption on W(110)." @default.
