- W201108742 abstract "Abstract : is the over-arching concept of Sea Power 21 -- a naval strategy for the 21st century that no longer emphasizes warfighting. The reality is that Sea Power 21 allows the U.S. Navy to degrade the Navy-Marine Corps team that was so successful in the Pacific Theater of World War II by establishing fiscal and doctrinal separation between the two services. Force Net is the rationale for the Navy to adopt network centric warfare merely to fill a void where they have perceived one. In their over-reliance on computers and technology, they have now become the guardians of the Ethernet and will protect the network of the U.S. armada, an armada that requires millions of gallons of fossil fuels a day to operate and maintain. The Navy wants to protect the network in the littoral so that they can kick out the Marines from the LPD 17 and LHD and do their own part to protect the Force Net. The Navy will operate primarily to facilitate the Marines' required reports and secondarily to close with and destroy the enemy. The Marines continue to fight alongside the Army and those nations who dare to take up arms against enemies who desire to extinguish our free way of life, while the modern Navy fights harder to remain out of harms way than it does to fight against the enemy. The fiscal and doctrinal separation of the Navy and Marine Corps and loss of the warfighting ethos makes it clear that America needs another Bull Halsey." @default.
