- W2020901611 abstract "Abstract The infrared radiation from the boundary layer formed by the passage of arc-heated air over a Teflon surface has been measured in the 4–19 μ region. The results are compared to theoretical calculations based on a partial equilibrium boundary layer model which does not allow the formation of CF3 and CF4. The measurements confirms the theoretical prediction that COF2 will be the major radiator in this spectral region, and the calculated and measured absolute intensities are in reasonable agreement. Both theory and experiment show that the COF2 intensity is insensitive to the free-stream air temperature. The spectral contour of the 8 μ COF2 band in emission at temperatures near 2300°K is presented." @default.
