- W2770102032 abstract "The operating point of a power system varies through time due to continuous changes in the system dynamics. These changes might be small disturbances such as a continuous increase or decrease in loads, or severe disturbances such as a generators' trip. These unexpected disturbances will change the power system states including buses' phasor voltages and system frequency; it may also lead to system instability in severe cases. Real-time system monitoring using high resolution and fast phasor measurement units (PMUs) is a solution to reliably detect these abnormal conditions. However, processing high volume PMU data in real-time system is a challenging problem. In this paper, we introduce an approach, called True sliding detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), to detect frequency event using PMUs. Based on the proposed real-time algorithm, frequency system events can be detected and monitored on-line, which gives an opportunity for a system operator to take necessary actions in a timely manner." @default.
