- W2889330621 abstract "The coverage of large air surveillance volumes has only been presented with the application of FM radio transmitters in most publications on passive radar. In the following it will be shown that large detection ranges around 200 km can also be achieved by the usage of transmitters for Digital Video Broadcasting besides the benefit of high range resolution and accuracy. This is of course harder to achieve due to several reasons like the more complex receiver design and the required computational resources. One aspect is also the typically narrow elevation pattern of the transmitters, which leads to a large power reduction for the illumination of high altitudes. The mainbeam can also be tilted down. This power loss has to be compensated by a high performance antenna array on the receive side. Several DVB-T bands are processed sequentially in order to resolve the ambiguities resulting from Single Frequency Networks (SFNs) and to obtain cartesian target tracks. Besides cartesian tracks, which are base purely on DVB-T, there will also be shown sensor fusion results with a FM sensor, where parallel processing of 16 frequency bands has been realized. Sensor fusion allows to remove the ambiguities from the SFNs by FM detections and to improve the position accuracy." @default.
