- W4366177572 abstract "The purpose of the research is studying the natural history of disease, epidemiological and clinical features of the skin manifestations in diabetes patients in the context of the right medical approach in terms of diagnosis, treatment as well as in rehabilitation and better quality of life of patients. The study was performed on 182 patients with various forms of skin manifestations in diabetes. From the total group of patients, 103 were female and 79 were male. The age of the patients is between 20 and 81 years, being divided into 4 age categories: aged 20-35 years–5 patients; aged 36-50 years–19 patients; aged 51-65 years–140 patients; aged 66-80 years old–18 patients. The proportion of women with diabetes is slightly higher than that of men and the highest incidence belongs to the age group of 51-65 years, which constitutes ¾ of the group of patients. Precisely at this age period, important changes occur in the endocrine and metabolic system, with increased susceptibility to metabolic disorders. Patients from rural areas present a double risk of metabolic disorders, due to the lack of financial resources for an early diagnosis and effective treatment, as well as the lack of medical staff in rural areas. Diabetes type 2 persists in most cases consisting 95.60% of the total number of patients. Specific skin manifestations in diabetes occur approximately in every second patient, which speaks of the increased incidence of skin manifestations in diabetes. Group III(Skin infections) has the highest incidence of skin manifestations in diabetes while from group VII(Cutaneous complications of antidiabetic treatment) no case was detected. Most cases of skin infections are mycotic skin-mucous infections and bacterial ones. In the top of the skin manifestations, there are also conditions such as: skin pruritus, ischemic acral complex, granuloma annulare and purpuric dermatitis of the lower limbs. Patients with specific skin manifestations have significantly higher glycemic levels than those with nonspecific skin manifestations. Patients with specific skin manifestations have a higher incidence of cardiovascular system damage." @default.
