- W4387328859 abstract "This research aims to prepare composite materials by means of Luffa Cylindrica fiber and epoxy resin. Three different layers of composites, namely single, double, and triple, were prepared and studied for their mechanical characteristics such as tensile, and flexural properties. In another set of experiments, the fibers were treated using the acetylation process before the preparation of the three different layers of composites. The mechanical characteristics and swelling thickness of the treated and untreated composites are compared. The results presented that the strength of the treated fiber were better associated to the untreated composites. The acetylation process improved the adhesion between the fiber and epoxy matrix, resulting in enhanced mechanical characteristics such as increased tensile strength, and flexural strength. Additionally, the water absorption rate of the composites treated was found to be significantly lower than that of the untreated composites, indicating that the acetylation process reduced the hygroscopic nature of the fiber. The conclusions of this research propose that the usage of Luffa Cylindrica fiber treated with the acetylation process could lead to the production of composites with improved mechanical characteristics and reduced water absorption rate. This could have potential applications in various fields such as construction, automotive, and aerospace industries where lightweight and durable materials are required. In conclusion, this research demonstrates that the acetylation process can significantly enhance the mechanical characteristics of Luffa Cylindrica epoxy composites, while also reducing their water absorption rate. The outcomes of this research deliver valuable visions into the possible use of Luffa Cylindrica fiber as a reinforcement material in composite manufacturing." @default.
