- W609163017 abstract "Some methods of physical training in hypoxia are used to increase the athletic performance. However, the subjects that would benefit from altitude training and others that would not. We make the hypothesis that the autonomic nervous system participed in this individual variability. A spectral analysis of heart rate variability has been achivied during a test designed to measure ventilatory and cardiac responses to hypoxia at rest and during exercise. The results show that the individuals having a weak cardiac response to exercise didn't increase their heart rate variability once in normoxia after the hypoxic stimulus. The effect of training in low and living in high altitude induced an increase of sympathetic activity to exercise in hypoxia, which was not the case of a population training and living in low altitude. The autonomic modifications considered maybe like a supplementary criteria of detection of reduction" @default.
