- W659422629 abstract "In order to invesitgate the behaviour of vehicles in side winds a side-wind installation was used which allowed the deviation of the track to be measured. Since the tests by car manufacturers were carried out under different test conditions (different channel lengths and measurement points of time), a unitary evaluation standard for side wind sensitivity is not possible. For that reason in order that comparable results could be achieved a reference vehicle was introduced. In the test the track deviations of four vehicles were related to those of a fifth. In previous test procedures the influence of the maximum wind yaw moment had remained unheeded. To produce comparable conditions it is proposed that similarly designed side wind installations should be constructed. Furthermore actual driver behaviour should be taken into consideration.
