Визначено основні етапи становлення КДА, а також напрямки наукових пошуків її професорсько-викладацького складу та студентства у сфері церковно-релігійної історії. На основі ґрунтовного опрацювання архівних джерел та відповідної наукової літератури з’ясовано використання представниками КДА причинно-наслідкового аналізу на розгляд значення Берестейської унії для розвитку православної церкви кінця XVI – початку XVII ст. Проаналізовано погляди київських академістів на основні причини інституційного занепаду Київської митрополії православної церкви кінця XVI ст., на факт здійснення та наслідки укладання Берестейської унії для подальшого існування митрополії. Представлено аргументи критичного бачення представників КДА на діяльність уніатської церкви у першій половині XVII ст. Обґрунтовано важливість дослідження полемічної літератури викладачами та студентами КДА як повноцінного історичного джерела вивчення причин введення Берестейської унії та її наслідків. Досліджено формування історичних стереотипів «прогресивних» та «тенденційних» полемістів у наукових роботах студентів КДА (The dissertation presents a comprehensive historical analysis of professors’ and students’ opinion at Kyiv Theological Academy of late 19th – early 20th century as regards the signing of the Union of Breast and the related arguments. The researcher maps out major stages of formation of Kyiv Theological Academy, as well as discusses scientific work by its students and professors in the field of history of religion. Upon the comprehensive review of archives and other relevant literature, the researcher examines the cause-and-effects methods used by representatives of Kyiv Theological Academy in determining the impact of the Union of Brest on the development of the Orthodox Church in late 16th – early 17th century. The dissertation also discusses views by Kyiv’s academicians regarding the decadence of the Kyiv metropolitanate of the Orthodox Church, as well as the implications of the Union of Brest on the further existence of the metropolitanate. It also offers critical arguments by Kyiv Theological Academy’s representatives on the Union Church’s functioning in early 17th century.The dissertation establishes the importance of polemic literature research by professors and students of Kyiv Theological Academy, as such research can serve a full-fledged historical source for analyzing implications of the Union of Brest.
