- ilcd;;4:16-cv-04150_de76 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER entered by Judge Colin Stirling Bruce on 2/3/17. Plaintiff's motion to request counsel 65 is DENIED. As the Court has previously explained to Plaintiff, the Court does not possess the authority to require an attorney to accept pro bono appointments on civil cases such as this. Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 653 (7th Cir. 2007). In addition, federal courts are discouraged from becoming involved in the day-to-day operations of state facilities, including becoming involved in a prisoner or a detainees placement or room assignment within that facility. Shaw v. Murphy, 532 U.S. 223, 229 (2001) (holding that the judiciary is "ill equipped" to administer and regulate the day-to-day activities of penal institutions). Accordingly, the Court denies Plaintiff's request for an order directing that Plaintiff be placed in any certain part of Rushville or near any certain detainee at Rushville. Finally, Plaintiff does not have the right to have legal assistance from another detainee. Indeed, the Court understands from other cases before it that Rushville's rules prohibit such activities. Accordingly, Plaintiff's request in this regard is denied. (KM, ilcd) (Entered: 02/03/2017)" @default.
