- ilnd;;1:11-cv-05913_de37 RegisterActionDescriptionText "MINUTE entry before Honorable Marvin E. Aspen: Plaintiff's motion to appoint counsel 31 is denied without prejudice. Currently, neither the issues nor the discovery of this case are complex, and Plaintiff appears to be competent to represent himself at this stage of the proceedings. See Romanelli v. Suliene, 615 F.3d 847, 851 (7th Cir.2010); Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 656-59 (7th Cir. 2007). Plaintiff may himself conduct discovery by forwarding to counsel for Defendants either (1) interrogatories (written questions) for Defendants to answer and/or (2) requests for the production of documents, such as copies of Plaintiffs Cook County Jail intake and medical records and copies of Plaintiff's grievances or requests for medications. See Rules 31, 33, and 34 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. As to Defendants' request for a release of Plaintiff's medical records, the Court cannot instruct Plaintiff whether or not to sign the release; however, his jail medical records appear to be relevant documents for this case and the Defendants should provide Plaintiff with a copy of those records if and when they are obtained. Mailed notice (pcs, ) (Entered: 10/16/2012)" @default.
