- ilnd;;1:16-cv-09929_de5 RegisterActionDescriptionText "MINUTE entry before the Honorable John Robert Blakey: Plaintiff's application for leave to proceed in forma pauperis 4 is granted, and the Clerk is directed to file Plaintiff's complaint. The Court directs the Clerk to issue summonses for service of the complaint on Defendant Mondelez International. The Clerk of Court is directed to mail Plaintiff one blank USM-285 (U.S. Marshals service) form. The Court advises Plaintiff that the U.S. Marshal will not attempt service on a Defendant unless and until Plaintiff provides a completed USM-285 form for that Defendant. Plaintiff must therefore complete and return a service form for Mondelez, and failure to do so may result in the dismissal of the unserved Defendant, as well as dismissal of this case in its entirety for lack of prosecution. This case is set for a status hearing on 3/15/17 at 9:45 a.m. in Courtroom 1725. Plaintiff's motion for attorney representation 5 is denied without prejudice. There is no constitutional or statutory right to counsel in federal civil cases, Romanelli v. Suliene, 615 F.3d 847, 851 (7th Cir. 2010); Johnson v. Doughty, 433 F.3d 1001, 1006 (7th Cir. 2006), and the Court is not yet persuaded that counsel is necessary. Plaintiff has demonstrated an ability to file pleadings and pursue this case, and, at this juncture, nothing is required of Plaintiff except to return the service form. Plaintiff may want to review the Courts standing order for pro se litigants, which is available on the Courts webpage at www.ilnd.uscourts.gov. Plaintiff may also wish to contact the District Court Pro Se Assistance Program, the Hibbler Help Desk, which may be reached at the Clerk's Office Intake desk, Dirksen Federal Building, 219 S. Dearborn, 20th floor, or by calling (312) 435-5691. The Court will revisit the issue of recruitment of counsel as necessary throughout these proceedings. Mailed notice (gel, ) (Entered: 01/18/2017)" @default.
