- ilcd;;1:16-cv-01110_de25 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER: Plaintiff's motion for leave to file amended complaint 18 , is GRANTED. The clerk is directed to file the amended complaint and set the matter for merit review 21 days out. Plaintiff files 19 , a motion for recruitment of pro bono counsel. In considering Plaintiff's Motion, the Court asks: (1) has the indigent Plaintiff made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel or been effectively precluded from doing so; and if so, (2) given the difficulty of the case, does the plaintiff appear competent to litigate it himself? Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654-55 (7th Cir. 2007), citing Farmer v. Haas, 990 F.2d 319, 322 (7th Cir. 1993). Here, Plaintiff has not attached any correspondence sent to, or received from, prospective counsel. As Plaintiff has not demonstrated that he made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel on his own, 19 is DENIED. If Plaintiff renews his motion for appointment of counsel, he should list the attorneys to whom he wrote and should attach any letters sent to or received from those attorneys. Entered by Judge Sue E. Myerscough on 3/1/2017. (GL, ilcd) (Entered: 03/01/2017)" @default.
