- ilcd;;1:16-cv-01244_de91 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER entered by Judge Colin Stirling Bruce on 3/29/2018. Plaintiff filed a Motion to Reconsider 79 that the Court interprets as a renewed motion for appointment of counsel. Plaintiff has no constitutional or statutory right to counsel in this case. In considering the Plaintiff's motion, the court asks: (1) has the indigent Plaintiff made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel or been effectively precluded from doing so; and if so, (2) given the difficulty of the case, does the plaintiff appear competent to litigate it himself? Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654-55 (7th Cir. 2007). Plaintiff has previously shown that he made a reasonable attempt to secure counsel on his own. As previously noted, Plaintiff has personal knowledge of the facts, he has been able to adequately convey them to the Court, his motions frequently cite relevant case law, and this case does not appear overly complex at this time. Accordingly, the Court finds that Plaintiff is capable of representing himself. Plaintiff's motion 79 is DENIED with leave to renew. Plaintiff's Motion for Extension of Time 80 is GRANTED. Plaintiff shall file any response to Defendants' motion for summary judgment by May 21, 2018.(JMB, ilcd) (Entered: 03/29/2018)" @default.
