- ilcd;;1:17-cv-01444_de13 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER Entered by Judge Sara Darrow on 12/5/2017. Plaintiff filed a Motion to Request Counsel 11 . Plaintiff has no constitutional or statutory right to counsel in this case. In considering the Plaintiffs motion, the court asks: (1) has the indigent Plaintiff made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel or been effectively precluded from doing so; and if so, (2) given the difficulty of the case, does the plaintiff appear competent to litigate it himself? Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654-55 (7th Cir. 2007). Plaintiff has shown that he made a reasonable attempt to secure counsel on his own. Plaintiff, however, has been able to adequately communicate with the Court thus far, he should be able to obtain his medical records via discovery, and this case does not appear overly complex at this time. The Court finds that Plaintiff is capable of representing himself at this time. Plaintiffs motion 11 is DENIED with leave to renew. Although Plaintiff has also notified the Court of his future address, he did not provide a specific date when such change would become effective. Thus, Plaintiff is reminded that he must notify the Clerk again when the new address becomes effective.(ED, ilcd) (Entered: 12/05/2017)" @default.
