- ilcd;;1:17-cv-01489_de100 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER entered by Judge Colin Stirling Bruce on 10/14/2020. Plaintiff's motion for counsel 67 is conditionally GRANTED. As the Court has previously explained to Plaintiff, the Court does not possess the authority to require an attorney to accept pro bono appointments on civil cases such as this. Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 653 (7th Cir. 2007). The most that the Court can do is to ask for volunteer counsel. Jackson v. County of McLean, 953 F.2d 1070, 1071 (7th Cir. 1992). Recently, the Court has been unsuccessful in its attempts to recruit counsel for other pro se prisoner plaintiffs, but the Court will endeavor to try to find counsel for Plaintiff in this case. If the Court is unsuccessful, Plaintiff must understand that he will need to represent himself for the remainder of this case. A final pretrial conference by video-conferencing is set for November 16, 2020, at 3:30 p.m. The Clerk of the Court is directed to prepare and to issue a video writ compelling Plaintiff's attendance at the final pretrial conference by video-conferencing. A jury trial is set for December 1, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. The Clerk of the Court is directed to prepare and to issue a personal appearance writ compelling Plaintiff's attendance at the jury trial in person. The Parties are reminded of their obligation to prepare and to file a timely proposed final pretrial order pursuant to the Court's Local Rules. (KE, ilcd) (Entered: 10/14/2020)" @default.
