- ilcd;;2:16-cv-02019_de28 RegisterActionDescriptionText "TEXT ORDER entered by Judge Colin Stirling Bruce on 11/16/16. Plaintiff files 19 , a Motion for Recruitment of pro bono counsel, to which Defendant has filed a response in opposition. In considering Plaintiff's Motion, the Court asks: (1) has the indigent Plaintiff made a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel or been effectively precluded from doing so; and if so, (2) given the difficulty of the case, does the plaintiff appear competent to litigate it himself? Pruitt v. Mote, 503 F.3d 647, 654-55 (7th Cir. 2007), citing Farmer v. Haas, 990 F.2d 319, 322 (7th Cir. 1993). Here, Plaintiff claims that she had contacted attorney who have declined to represent her. Plaintiff has not, however, attached copies of the letters she sent or the responses she received. As a result, she has not demonstrated either a reasonable attempt to obtain counsel on her own, or that she has been effectively precluded from doing so. 19 is DENIED at this time. In the event Plaintiff renews her motion for appointment of counsel, she is to attach copies of the letters she wrote to prospective counsel and the responses she received.
