- W1982772086 abstract "This paper reviews i) the spectroscopy of core and valence excited states in CO2, OCS and CS2 molecules, chosen as model systems. The analysis is based on excitation spectra obtained with X-ray synchrotron radiation absorption and with electron impact energy loss spectroscopy. Then, we discuss the relative energies of unoccupied valence orbitals ii) the dynamics of electronically excited states i.e. dissociation versus ionization, in OCS and HBr, chosen as illustrative examples. We use recent results obtained with various complementary experimental methods, such as fluorescence excitation spectroscopy of neutral fragments, photoionization and (threshold) photoelectron spectroscopy combined with VUV synchrotron radiation. We show that dissociation may compete efficiently with ionization or more over preceeds it." @default.
