- W2904692471 abstract "The evolution of bioinformatics has revolutionized various interdisciplinary research areas and has provided quick insights and advancements in the field of microbiology. The research being done can be analyzed, linked, and assessed by the united application of these bio- and chemoinformatics tools and relational databases. The computational approach to design and discover antimicrobial agents and to combat developing drug-resistant tuberculosis includes genomics, transcriptomics, molecular structure and docking studies, and estimation of quantitative structure–activity relationships. The indiscriminate use of antimicrobials in the clinical industry and agricultural practices has resulted in the development of drug-resistant bacteria, especially multidrug-resistant bacteria leading to the reoccurrence of the preantibiotic era. Therefore, the need for the emergence of new antimicrobial therapies is more for which the developments in bioinformatics and genomics like high-throughput and whole-genome sequencing have enabled to target the microbe in a multidirectional approach to discover the drugs having an efficiency against challenging drug-resistant strains. The current article reviews the expansion of computational methods, databases, and tools applied for exploring novel insights in antimicrobial research." @default.
