- W3034851434 abstract "Magnesium (Mg) and alloys have received great attention in orthopedic applications due to their biodegradation and mechanical properties. However, the high degradation rate of Mg alloys has limited their orthopedic applications. To reduce the corrosion rate and enhance the surface bioactivity of Mg alloy, chitosan-bioactive glass (CS-BG) nanocomposite coatings were performed by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. For this purpose, initially 63 mol% SiO2, 28 mol% CaO, 9 mol% P2O5 bioactive glass (63S BG) nanoparticles were synthesized and fully characterized. The effect of acetic acid concentration in EPD solution on morphology of CS-BG coatings was investigated. Also, the effect of BG concentration on morphology, adhesion, wetting, roughness, bioactivity and corrosion of CS-BG coatings was evaluated. Overall, the results demonstrated that BG concentration of 0.4 g/l in CS-BG coatings showed the best corrosion resistance and bioactivity." @default.
