Mr. Deng Xiaoping brushed the Station's Chinese name for the station. Main missions of the Station are to receive, process, archive and distribute earth-resources data from various remote-sensing satellites, and also to make scientific researches regarding satellite remote-sensing data receiving, processing and the relevant various techniques and methods. China RSGS can receive and process remotely sensed data covering 80% - 95% land of the Country and is the major supplier of civil resources-satellite remotely sensed data in the Country for the time-being. Now there are 650,000 scenes of diversified earth observation satellite data scenes archived, of which there are 40,000 scenes of microwave remote-sensing data, and the amount of data exceeds 120 TB, with about 10 TB increase annually. More than 2,000 services from users are requested and provided annually. After a series of complicated processing, the acquired earth-resources remote-sensing data is offered to users on various media.
