- W1004070010 abstract "This chapter focuses on the progress in chemical research in China in the past decade. Some of its achievements in inorganic and analytical chemistry include Debang Hou's improvement of alkali manufacture, separation and analyses of B, Li, and U isotopes, the theory of silica acid polymerization, and the precise measurements of the atomic mass of antimony, europium, and cerium, which were accepted as a new standard for IUPAC. Recently, some exciting research work has been completed in the field of nanoscale materials in Tsinghua University, where Gallium nitride nanorods were prepared through a carbon nanotube-confined reaction. Researchers in CAS Institute of Physics 2 reported large-scale synthesis of aligned carbon nanotubes by using a method based on chemical vapor deposition, catalyzed by iron nanoparticles embedded in mesoporous silica. Some of the important achievements accomplished by Chinese researchers in the field of organic chemistry include total synthesis of cattle insulin, the development of elemental organic chemistry and its application to eliminate schistosomiasis, the total synthesis of yeast lactamic acid RNA, and the synthesis of steroid and their reaction. Some superior catalysts that are cheap, easy to access, air-stable, and water-tolerant were developed in the CAS Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, for which they considered a sidearm approach, focusing on the improvement of bisoxazoline into pseudo-C3-symmetric trisoxazoline. Some of the achievements in the field of physical and theoretical chemistry were made before 1990s, which include coordination field theory, graphics of molecular orbital theory and its application, electronic structures of rare earth elements compounds, modified Huckel MO Theory, and reaction dynamics of molecular beam." @default.
