- W1004757146 abstract "Extracellular proteases are commonly produced among fungi including several examples of wood-degrading Basidiomycetes. It was frequently observed that high endo-l,4-β-glucanase activity was always accompanied by a high production of proteolytic enzymes when Sporotrichum pulverulentum was cultivated on cellulose. This chapter describes two acidic proteases (protease I and protease II) that have been shown to play a role in the activation of the endo-l,4-β-glucanases in culture solutions of S. pulverulentum grown on cellulose. The chapter discusses assay method and purification procedure for the proteases. The specificities of protease I and protease II are determined by analyzing the degradation products from human fibrinopeptide A. Human fibrinopeptide A is isolated under clotting conditions for highly purified human fibrinogen, contains 16 amino acid residues, and has a molecular weight of 1536." @default.
