- W100867514 abstract "Publisher SummaryThe possibility that chromosomal rearrangements result from preferential breakage at specific sites, called hot-spots, remains disputable. These hot-spots correspond to some fragile sites, and they are involved in acquired pathology. The exact localization of many fragile sites remains approximate. The mapping of oncogenes is in many cases incomplete and also approximate. The hot-spots have a nonobjective definition and are described from biased analyses of small samples. These various uncertainties do not exclude the possibility that the presumed loci of these sites overlap all along the chromosome arms, making any formal conclusion quite trivial. To avoid the biases of analyses, large samples of chromosomal rearrangements are accumulated and an appropriate statistical treatment is being developed." @default.
