- W1009598478 abstract "The flow immunosensor combines the selectivity and sensitivity of traditional immunoassays with a non-equilibrium displacement reaction that allows rapid analysis of small-molecular weight compounds within minutes. In the flow immunosensor, displacement immunoassays are incorporated into a device that is set up under continuous buffer flow. The essential components of the system are immobilized antibodies on a solid-support, antigen analogs that are labeled with a reporter molecule, and the associated hardware needed to establish a controlled flowing system. Flow immunosensors find their application in aviation security, drug detection, and environmental monitoring and field demonstrations. Immunoassays and immunochemical field methods performed in flow provide direct, simple, and rapid detection of analyte, highlighting a unique advantage of the flow immunosensor format. Another advantage of the flow immunosensor is that it is field-portable and can be carried on-site for real-time analysis of the various analytes. Future advances in the flow immunosensor technology will involve improvements in assay components and hardware/software innovations. The ideal flow immunosensor for field use would contain integrated reference/calibration capabilities and could be run for extended periods of unattended use." @default.
