The author takes his readers on a journey of various tale and fable which revives childhood memories. The author has used famous tales to simplify the complex functioning of an organization. The author has presented various challenges and solutions for those challenges that will help an organization grow and work efficiently. The author targets on the long held beliefs about strategy management and to think beyond established norms. The author in this book expands the fable who will bell the cat? to how to bell the cat? and finally executing it. Simple stories are put to use to explain the overall business issues from strategy formation to execution. The author has skilfully divided the book into five different parts, each covering the aspects like strategy formation, resources needed, challenges that can crop up, solutions to them and then finally the perfect execution. The first part is Evolve Business Strategies which is a very important step in any strategy formation and execution. Author here stresses on the idea that in order to have a successful strategy and execution, one has to start with thinking out of the box and dare challenge the basic assumptions and norms. It is necessary to understand that business is not about reaching the finish line but staying ahead of its competitors in the race using the '3Cs model' and 'offbeat strategies to beat competition'. Another important aspect while formulating strategy is working as a team with the right people and have 'shared vision with a meaning' which gives a direction to achieve the goals. Author suggests the necessity of acquiring the knowledge and use of 'Panchatantra strategies'. Panchatantra written by Chanakya holds the answers to the art of formation and execution of strategies and the pros and cons of conventional ethics. At the end, the success of a strategy and its execution depends on the time needed, resources used, quality and practicality of the strategy being chosen, i.e., the need for a 'Good fit strategy'.Author in the 2nd part of the book describes the Strategic Management Techniques which enables achievement of the goals. As mentioned in the previous section the need for a 'good fit strategy', there are different patterns of thinking and ways to generate ideas to reach the good fit strategy for the company. There are five different patterns of thinking discussed by the author. Divergent thinking explores as many as solutions possible to generate compatible and creative ideas. On the other hand, Lateral thinking is about using reasoning and creative approach to solve a problem. Another way to find a solution is using intuitive thinking which is using the past experience and sense of right and wrong by the person. To find the best strategy it is important to consider the benefits and positive effect of every good and bad idea as suggested by Angel's advocate. At the end the key factor in selecting the best fit strategy is step wise arranging and short listing the ideas based on their practicality and advantages, which is known as dissection of ideas. But before strategy formation, one has to generate as many ideas as possible which can be done through different techniques. Author discussed 8 diverse idea generating techniques: 'how-how technique', 'Brainstorming', 'Brainstillling', 'Trigger session', 'Wild ideas session', 'SWOT analysis', 'Suggestion schemes', 'Quality circles'. The advantage of all these techniques is that it involves the people in idea generation and strategy formulation which makes it easier for the strategy implementation due to less resistance from the people. …" @default.
