- W1034730582 abstract "The $^{14}mathrm{C}$(d,p${)}^{15}$C reaction has been used to search for ${d}_{3/2}$ strength in the particle-unbound region of $^{15}mathrm{C}$ where the 1p-2h ${J}^{ensuremath{pi}}$${(3/2)}^{+}$ state is expected to lie. Proton spectra have been obtained over the angular range 15ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{}--110ifmmode^circelsetextdegreefi{} with vector-polarized incident deuterons of energy 16 MeV. Two ${(3/2)}^{+}$ levels, one broad (ensuremath{Gamma}ensuremath{sim}1.8 MeV) and one relatively narrow (ensuremath{Gamma}=64 keV), are observed at excitation energies of 4.78 and 5.81 MeV, respectively. These states can be identified with the 1p-2h and 3p-4h ${(3/2)}^{+}$ levels predicted by shell-model calculations. The level parameters were extracted using a method suggested by Huby and Kelvin. The combined strength of the two states is approximately 50% of the single-particle strength." @default.
