- W1036003618 abstract "In animals and plants, enzymes and their inhibitors often coexist, and these inhibitors are macromolecular peptides. In contrast, microorganisms produce low-molecular-weight enzyme inhibitors and release them extracellularly. Several inhibitors have been discovered in culture filtrates of actinomycetes, bacteria, and fungi. This chapter discusses inhibitors of proteases, inhibitors of glycosidases, and inhibitors of other hydrolases such as inhibitors of CAMP phosphodiesterase, phospholipases, alkaline phosphatase, esterase, ribonuclease, S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase, and adenosine deaminase. The chapter also discusses inhibitors of oxido–reductases such as tyrosine hydroxylase, dopamine 8-hydroxylase, phenylalanine hydroxylase, tryptophan hydroxylase, proline hydroxylase, monoamine oxidase, hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase, aldose reductase, and 12-lipoxygenase. Inhibitors of transferases such as nonspecific N-methyltransferase, catechol O-methyltransferase, thymidylate synthetase, glucosyltransferase, asparate aminotransferase, and aminoglycoside 2''-O-adenyltransferase, are described. Inhibitors of lyases such as glutamate decarboxylase, histidine decarboxylase, dopa decarboxylase, glyoxalase I, and fumarase, are also described." @default.
