- W106402105 abstract "Ampo is a natural mineral used by the community as a reliever of bitter taste in papaya leaves. Ampo’s ability in adsorbing bitter taste in papaya leaves indicates that ampo has adequate surface area so it can be concluded that a potential ampo adsorbent. Usage of ampo directly as adsorbent has constraint that is when it in the water will be brittle and swell as a result not optimal adsorption ability. To increase the adsorption capacity and characteristics is performed by ampo modification with pillarisation method. Pillarisation is an intercalation pillaring agent into ampo interlayer. Synthesis of pillared ampo includes making of suspension, pillaring agent with a solution FeCl3.6H2O hydrolyze with NaOH 0.2 M 0.2 M on the ratio of OH / Fe 2 and Fe/ampo 2. After intercalation, process continue with washing and calcination at apply temperature 300, 400 and 500 o C, testing and characterization. Testing is done through methyl violet adsorption in water. Characterization consist of determination of basal spacing, surface area and pore size distribution, the images of pillared and unpillared ampo morphological structure and determination of maximum adsorption capacity. The results showed that pillared ampo with Fe2O3 can be made through Intercalation of pillared agent into interlayer montmorillonite and nontronite in ampo using iron polyhidroksi cations. In general, the pillared ampo with variation temperature calcination can increase ability of adsorption and ampo characteric. The best result obtained from the experiment is at Fe/ampo ratio 2 , OH/Fe ratio 2 and calcination temperature 400 o C with basal spacing 15.76575 A, surface area 99.56 m2/g and adsorption capacity 117.10 mg/g. Calculation using the De-Boer method and modified Horvath Kawazoe showed bimodal pore size distribution in pillared ampo. Surface morphology showed structure of pillared ampo is more porous than unpillared ampo. Keyword: ampo, pillarisation, calcination, basal spacing" @default.
