- W112177768 abstract "Abstract First, it is asked whether the contributions to status inconsistency research can be considered as tests of the theoretical concept of status inconsistency. The central elements of the theoretical concepts are then dealt with and some theoretical approaches are described which fit into the framework of these common elements. The status inconsistency theory which is presented afterwards takes into account the coexistence of different norms of consistency, i.e. societal and stratum norms. Furthermore, the theory is used for a systematic presentation of consistent and inconsistent status configurations whithin stratification systems, i.e. consistent and inconsistent aspects of configurations are simultaneously analysed together with their structural location within stratification systems. The theoretical model implies complex hypotheses on social change and behavioral consequences of actors, especially in the case that different parameters of systems and marginal conditions are changed." @default.
