- W113757038 abstract "The theory of generalized motor programmes is one of the most frequently discussed issues within the motor approach to human movement behaviour. In this paper four groups of experiments are described which served to test specific propositions and predictions of the generalized motor programme (GMP) hypothesis, using complex movements from sports: experiments concerning: 1. the invariances in motor behaviour; 2. the temporal structure of motor programming processes; 3. the temporal structure of motor reprogramming (correction) processes; and 4. the generality of the ability for an exact determination of parameters. When taken together, the findings of these investigations indicate that the attempt to apply central hypotheses of GMP theory to movements in sports, and to test them under sports conditions, appears to be quite fruitful. Specifically, the investigations show: that the relative timing for the ouer-arm throw remains largely constant in spite of instructed parameter variations (experiments of group 1); that there is a hierarchy in the temporal structure of motor programming and reprogramming processes between programme elements and parameters (experiments of groups 2 and 3); and that parameter specification abilities correlate parameter-specifically across programmes of a similar structure (experiments of group 4)." @default.
