Der vorliegende Beitrag stellt in Anknüpfung an diese Forschungstradition die Herstellung schulischer Ordnung als Strukturproblem von Schulen in segregierten Lagen empirisch sichtbar dar, indem handlungsleitende Orientierungen und Praktiken von Professionellen rekonstruiert werden. Schools and SegregationAbstractWithin the context of educational discrimination, schools located in urban segregated areas have been brought into focus during the last decade. Due to their location their heterogeneous student body consists of largely disadvantaged pupils. Taking this into consideration, schools facing challenging circumstances constitute an important field of discourse within school effectiveness research as well as school development research. Therefore, the following article follows up both lines of research, and aims at pointing towards a systematic description of contextual factors and highlighting particular problems of schooling in urban segregated areas. This will be shown by tracing back on orientations with a guiding effect to the pedagogical and educational strategies of the teaching staff in two schools located in areas most affected by deprivation and remarkably high inequality in two large German cities.
