It is logical to assume that a company that learns of such threats would provide additional security around its facilities that house its key managers or even hire bodyguards to enhance executive protection. Partnering with local law enforcement to investigate threats externally or internally with corporate or internal security is also an option. The protection teams need to be fully briefed as to potential suspects, and the nature of any and all known threats if the business wishes to be successful in its reaction to an actual event. Another common dilemma is the concept or belief that a violent incident could never happen at the organization or place of business. The belief that the workforce is part of an artificially created family and that no one in this family who would commit such a stupid or careless act—to actually threaten or bully another employee, customer, or vendor—is very naive. This belief is especially prevalent when a company is ramping up a new location to the business.
