- W118009376 abstract "This Master of Science thesis focuses on an area dealing with spatial planning (the influence of construction of an infrastructural element on the basic primary structure with a synergy effect). The main aim of the research is spatial synthesis of attractive water areas and systematic clear source of irrational water exploitation with conflicting dispersed construction in an area which threatens future possibilities of rational surface usage. The research process has shown that by definition the MDSC is neither part of the Pan-European multi-modal corridors overlapping with primary axes (development areas), nor is it an area of interest for the EU, national or secondary regional interest based on areas of intensive development. Such a concentrated mega corridor transfers from the basic economic structure (international traffic) into the local support system and transforms into a sustainable development axis as an intensive development area. The water balance and connectivity of inland waterways on the territory of the Republic of Croatia are another important issue of this paper. By simulating directions (of structural harmony) of possible changes of land use through time and by exploring what land use will look like in the future, we can identify an attractive and potential water area. The purpose of the canal construction is to shorten the waterway Danube – Sava by 417 km. The MDSC is a “Multipurpose Canal“ with four equal functions (navigation, irrigation, drainage and control of low water levels) with a planned amount of annual cargo transport of 7 million tons. The results of the research paper entitled „The influence of construction of an inland waterway on the primary structure of the Slavonia and Syrmia region“ are the advantages of spatial planning and of long-term impact of spatial vulnerability and the development possibilities of the investigated area, with the possibility of a timely response to the problem. Concluding thoughts of the paper go toward the future of west Syrmia and Slavonia regions positioned in the Danubian area and towards balancing regional goals for development as well as creating a multimodal traffic grid which would cut general costs by using water traffic. The total benefit of this research for the society is the fact that the community can be defined by the technical system." @default.
