The main contributionsof this thesis include development of a model in Matlab which uses the qualities ofFuzzyC-Means(FCMs)clusteringandcorrectstheformedregionstomeetthecrite-riaofeffectivehydrologicalregions. InFCMeachsitehasadegreeofmembershipineachoftheclusters. Thealgorithmdevelopedisflexibletogetnumberofregionsandreturnperiodasinputsandshowthefinalcorrectedclustersasoutputformostcasescenarios. While drought is considered a bivariate phenomena with two statisticalvariablesofdurationandseveritytobeanalyzedsimultaneously,animportantstepin this study is increasing the complexity of the initial model in Matlab to correctregionsbasedonL-comomentsstatistics(asapposedtoL-moments).
