- W119309059 abstract "Cingulate cortex, particularly the anterior midcingulate subregion, is the central hub in sensory–emotion–memory/anticipation–motor integration. Eight subregions have been identified with cytoarchitecture and receptor binding, and the essential organization of each is detailed in this article. Brodmann's anterior cingulate cortex does not represent a structure/function region, and designations like dorsal, caudal, or superior rely on this view and do not reflect the structure and functions of this region. Finally, human connection studies are assessed for the extent to which they reflect monosynaptic connections and individual areas or subregions. It is concluded that connection studies would be most fruitful if they specified regions of interest according to the subregional model." @default.
