- W128377727 abstract "Almost any physical system consists of many interacting atomic particles. Outside the realm of nuclear and high-energy physics, the forces holding these particles together are basically electrical and have been quantitatively understood since the end of the eighteenth century. The laws describing the motion of the atoms and their electrons are also very well known; they are just the laws of quantum mechanics familiar to us for many years. In other words, the atoms in all many-particle systems can be described completely in terms of the well-known electromagnetic forces and the familiar laws of quantum mechanics. But these systems may differ very appreciably in their properties and they often exhibit quite remarkable behavior." @default.
