Biomechanical models are helpful in analyzing jobs and work situations for such forces and torques and predicting human limits to perform the job safely. In this paper, a general approach to develop a three dimensional kinematic model of the human body is presented. The model makes use of notations developed for spatial mechanisms in predicting angular position, velocity, and acceleration of various body joints given the position, velocity, and acceleration of the hand.
