The heat transfer capability has been studied as a function of two parameters; the tilt angle and the evaporator operating temperature. It is concluded that the gravity assisted axially grooved stainless steel heat pipes using water as the working fluid can be used suitably in the manufacture of heat exchangers for heat recovering systems from the exhaust heat (< 80°) which occupies most part of waste energy in the form of low temperature gaseous or liquid wastes in industrial processes. Its heat transfer capability was found to be best at an inclination of 18° while operating at evaporator temperatures between 60° to 80° and worked satisfactorily at low evaporator temperatures (50° to 60°) when the tilt was increased from 18° to 36°." @default.
