- W13447968 abstract "This chapter reviews optical frequency doubling in waveguides, focusing on blue and green light generation. The main research efforts in this area have been aimed at the realization of compact all-solid state blue lasers based on near-infrared diode lasers, e.g. AlGaAs and InGaAs diode lasers, and of diode-pumped solid state lasers, e.g. Nd:YAG lasers, frequency doubled in a nonlinear waveguide. Waveguides provide ideal structures for efficient frequency conversion because of the high optical intensity that can be maintained over a long interaction distance [6.1]. Despite the rapid development in blue—green semiconductor lasers and first reports on ZnSe- and GaN-based diode lasers [6.2–3], frequency-doubled lasers based on near-infrared diode lasers still offer advantages regarding output power scalability, reliability and lifetime." @default.
