- W134993055 abstract "Noninvasive assessment of pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) has been attempted for years. However, isolated reports on high correlation between direct pressure measurements and results obtained with noninvasive techniques have not been confirmed in the clinical setting. With the revolution in noninvasive cardiac diagnosis caused by echocardiography, new methods for assessment of pulmonary circulation have been announced over the past fifteen years. Ultrasound examination provided information on morphological and functional effects of pulmonary hypertension. Recently, pressure gradients between selected heart chambers have been successfully estimated with Doppler echocardiography and used for assessment of pulmonary arterial pressures. This paper will critically review currently available ultrasonic methods of potential clinical importance for evaluation of pulmonary hypertension." @default.
