- W135328082 abstract "In this paper a genetic algorithm based optimum design method is developed for unbraced steel frames with semi-rigid beam-to-column connections including the geometric non-linearity. Followed by presentation of collapse load computation of the optimally designed steel frames carrying out second order plastic hinge analysis. The effect of non-linearity arising from the connection flexibility is accounted for by representing the non-linear moment-rotation behaviour using the standardization functions of the Frye-Morris polynomials. Two design examples are presented to show the effect of geometric nonlinearly and connection flexibility on the optimum design of unbraced steel frames and their collapse loads." @default.
