- W13568081 abstract "In Learning Hydraulic Systems (LHS1. developed at the Eindhoven University of Technology, a specialised optimisation routine is employed In order to reduce energy losses in hydraulic systems. Typical load situations which can be managed by LHS are variable cyclic loads, as can be observed In many applications such as drive lines in production machines. The hydraulic power supply system used in LHS has close resemblance to conventional pump-accumulator systems. Contraty to these systems LHS can adapt to changes in the cyclic loads without deterioration of the efficiency of the system. The optimisation routine In LHS determines optimal time Intervals for loadingunloading the pump and for connecting-disconnecting the accumulator. This routine has to be started from initial conditions In order to calculate the state of the system and the resulting losses in the hydraulic transmission. The initial conditions are thus first estimates for the values of the time intervals for the pump and the accumulator and the initial state of the accumulator. Unfortunately not all initial conditions will lead to a successful result in the optimisation routine. At each major change In the cyclic load the optimisation routine has to be resumed with a new set of initial conditions. The proper choice of the initial conditions for optimisation In LHS is thus an important issue. The problems related to a proper choice of the initial conditions for optimisation In UiS is studied In this research. GUidelines for the choice of initial conditions can be developed from this analysis. These guidelines are based on statistical analyses on the variable cyclic hydraulic load combined with calculations on the hydraulic system of LHS, being regarded as a conventional hydraulic pump-accumulator system. The proposed guidelines were tested theoretically by means of simulation techniques and tested practically on the the test rig of Learning Hydraulic Systems." @default.
