- W137337914 abstract "The response to irradiation with gamma and beta rays from /sup 32/P and / sup 60/Co radionuclides was studied for the following types of resins: Vionite CS- 3, a strongly acid cation exchanger; Vionite AT-1, a strongly basic anion exchanger: Vionite AS-1, slightly basic anion exchanger. All the resins studied had a reticulation degree of 8% DVB. Internal irradiation of the resins was done by working in columns on determined resin quantities with known radioactivity and concentration solutions. (auth) The short-time effects of irradiation upon WC, WB, W/sub 2/B, W/sub 2/B/sub 5 WO/sub 3/, and WS/sub 2/ were studied by observing the Mossbauer effect of tungsten nuclei following Coulomb excitation with 6-MeV alpha particles. Values for the recoilless fraction, hyperfine interaction, and linewidth were determined in the nonirradiated materials using a tungsten-metal target with tungsten-compound absorbers. These parameters were compared to those obtained by observing the Mossbauer effect using tungsten-compound targets and tungsten-metal absorbers. Anomalous hyperline interactions were observed in all irradiated compounds. The recoilless fraction was found to be reduced in most of the materials. In WO/sub 3/.
