- W143406404 abstract "ABSTRACT Glycine/tryptophan bodies (GWBs) are cytoplasmic foci that were first identified through the use of an autoimmune serum targeting the marker protein, GW182. GWBs were initially considered to function as both storage centers for a specific subset of mRNAs and degradation sites for mRNAs. Recent studies showing that disruption or disassembly of GWBs impaired mRNA silencing activity have linked them to siRNA and miRNA pathways. As miRNAs are also implicated in the regulation of cell cycle progression and cell proliferation, it is very likely that GWBs may also be associated with this cellular process. Clinical diagnoses associated with antibodies to GWBs include Sjogren's syndrome (SjS), ataxia, mixed motor and sensory neuropathy, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other conditions. Over 50% of sera with anti-GWB also have antibodies to the 52 kDa Ro antigen." @default.
