- W143669921 abstract "Sous l’action d’un ecoulement interne provenant du reservoir, les particules fines d’un ouvrage hydraulique peuvent etre sujettes a des phenomenes d’arrachement et de transport. Cette migration, connue sous le nom d’erosion interne, va influer sur la granulometrie et sur la porosite des materiaux constitutifs de l’ouvrage, ce qui va provoquer des variations au niveau des caracteristiques hydrauliques et mecaniques. Ceci peut engendrer une perte d’etancheite, un renard, un glissement, un tassement, une surverse et au stade ultime une formation de breche. Ainsi, l’erosion interne est la cause de 46% des ruptures de barrages en remblai et donc responsable de desastres humains et financiers. Par exemple, la rupture du barrage de Teton en 1976 a cause la mort de 14 personnes et a coute 400 millions de dollars de degâts. C’est pourquoi, il est primordial de comprendre les processus qui conduisent a ce phenomene et de developper un modele qui permettrait de prevoir l’hydrogramme de breche et les parametres de rupture afin de definir des dispositifs de surete efficaces et d’optimiser la maintenance des ouvrages. Contribuer a ce travail a ete le but de mon projet de fin d’etudes, puisqu’apres avoir etudie un modele de renard existant, celui du Cemagref, j’ai tente de l’ameliorer, puis ai cree un modele d’ouverture de breche. (En francais) // Under an internal flow coming from the reservoir, some particles are pulled up and transported. This migration, named internal erosion, affects some physical properties of the material such as the grain size distribution and the porosity which can lead to slight changes of the hydraulic and mechanical characteristics of the dam. Those fluctuations may entail a loss of watertightness, a piping, an instability, a settlement, an overtopping which can lead to the breaching of the dam. Moreover, internal erosion is the cause of 46% of embankment dam failures and the responsible of human and financial disasters. For example, Teton Dam’s failure which happened in 1976 caused the death of 14 people and 400 million dollars in damage. That’s why it is very important to understand the processes leading to this phenomenon and then, to develop a model which would enable to predict the breach hydrogram and the failure parameters in order to plane effective safety measures and improve the maintenance of the structures. To contribute to this work was the aim of my project: after having tested a model of piping made by the Cemagref, I tried to improve it and to create an other one for the phenomenon of breaching.
