- W145437405 abstract "Total knee replacement is one of the most effective procedures in orthopaedic joint reconstructive surgery. In recent years continuous improvements have been made to the original technique, aiming to optimize the cost-effectiveness of treatment. The “patient specific instrumentation” (PSI) is a new technology proposed in total knee arthroplasty to achieve both an improved surgical accuracy to reduce the risk of eventual failures, and an improved effectiveness of the surgical act through a smaller number of steps, shorter surgical times and cost-effectiveness. As with all new technologies, further studies with longer follow-up are needed, and the surgeons should always consider the efficacy in cost-effectiveness as a part of all assessing process even if clinical advantages are not proven yet for every new technology." @default.
