• W1482023102 abstract "A theoretical approach to mediated electrocatalysis of the oxidation or reduction of substrates in solution by a redox catalyst immobilized on the surface of a rotating disk electrode (RDE) as a monolayer or a submonolayer is presented taking into account the interactions among the attached catalyst species. The resulting equations are applied to the analysis of current-potential curves for some electron-transfer mediation reactions by surfactant polypyridine osmium and ruthenium complexes ([M(bpy)2(ndbpy)]2+3+, M = Os or Ru, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine and ndbpy = 4,4′-dinonadecyl-2,2′-bipyridine) confined to rotating SnO2 disk electrodes as a Langmuir-Blodgett monomolecular layer. The rate constants of the electron exchange reactions as well as the interaction parameters are obtained from the analysis of RDE voltammograms for the systems Os(III)/Fe2+ , Ru(III)/Fe2+, Os(III)/TEMPOL and Os(II)/Ce(IV). It is shown that the use of interaction parameters can reasonably explain some of the characteristics of the logarithmic plots for the RDE voltammograms, e.g. values of the reciprocals slope of the plots larger than 59 mV (at 25°C) found even for very rapid electrode kinetics of the immobilized catalysts and the non-linearity of the plots." @default.
